MOORE — Genevieve “Ginny” Meyer has joined Mary Abbott Children’s House as a family advocate/volunteer coordinator.
Meyer is responsible for assessing specific needs of the family, providing information, facilitating access to services already available in the community and participating in case review as a member of the CART Team.
Meyer does double duty as the volunteer coordinator. She also is responsible for recruiting, coordinating and directing volunteers.
“Ginny’s intelligence, hands-on experience and passion for helping children heal bring a calming influence to the families of the child victims who are in such need of guidance and comfort,” Executive Director Ann M. Way said.
Meyer comes to Abbott House with undergraduate degrees in gerontology and a master’s degree in social work. She served as a therapist at Varangon Academy — a residential treatment center for boys ages 13-17 with behavioral issues. She also has experience as a social work case manager at Norman Regional Health System with a focus on the oncology and medical surgical floors. She has worked in home health and hospice, where she still volunteers her services.
