Hospital will host emergency planning meeting today

MOORE — American Staff

The Cleveland County Local Emergency Planning Committee will hold its quarterly meeting 8:30 a.m. today at Norman Regional Hospital, 901 N. Porter Ave., Norman, in the Education Center. The meeting is open to the public.

The committee is a planning group designated to develop and review plans for responding to chemical release emergencies, health crisis, severe weather and other events requiring emergency response efforts in Cleveland County. The committee currently is composed of volunteers from government, business and emergency response organizations, although membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Cleveland County.

Under the Community Right-to-Know laws, the LEPC is responsible for maintaining the TIER II reports filed by companies operating in Cleveland County, which have hazardous chemicals on site in amounts triggering the reporting requirement.

The TIER II reporting deadline is March 1 each year, but companies that have not filed their reports still can do so.

More information on TIER II reporting requirements can be obtained by attending the LEPC quarterly meeting or contacting the LEPC.

For more information about the meeting, TIER II reporting or the LEPC in general, call Lyle Milby at 292-9731.
