MOORE — Refrigerators and freezers can use up to 20 percent of the total electricity in your home. To make sure your fridge is working at its peak, do the following:
· Maintain the right temperature. The fridge should be between 38-42 degrees. The freezer should be between 0-5 degrees.
· Keep them full, it takes less energy.
· Clean condenser coils quarterly.
· Open the doors as little as possible.
· Cover everything. Humidity escapes uncovered food making the fridge work harder to remove it.
