MOORE — One in seven Oklahomans is at risk of going hungry today. It’s time to stand up to hunger and take action. Join the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and say “Hunger is not OK” this September by participating in Hunger Action Month.
Hunger Action Month is a nationwide effort to mobilize the public, bring greater attention to the issue of hunger and promote different ways to get involved. Through Feeding America, the Regional Food Bank is joining more than 200 food banks across the nation to encourage the public to take action against hunger.
Whether it’s volunteering at a local pantry or donating to the Regional Food Bank, there is something that every Oklahoman can do to make a positive impact in their community and fight hunger.
Every dollar donated to the Regional Food Bank will provide seven meals to hungry Oklahomans in 53 central and western counties. Through Sept. 30, all of the donations made to the Food for Kids backpack program will be matched dollar for dollar up to $102,000.
The Regional Food Bank’s “30 Ways in 30 Days” calendar, chock full of ways to help fight hunger can be downloaded. To make a tax-deductible donation or download the calendar, visit www.regionalfoodbank. org or call 972-1111.
