Construction to start soon on Hobby Lobby

City officials say construction will begin soon on a Hobby Lobby store which will be located at the Shoppes at Moore. Steve Eddy, Moore city manager, said the new arts and crafts store will be located between Best Buy and JCPenney.

Plans call for a building about 55,000-square-feet in size. An opening is expected in 2010.

Moore Mayor Glenn Lewis said city officials were excited by the announcement.

“We’re looking forward to having them as a corporate neighbor,” Lewis said.

He said the location could prove “to be one of the best” locations that the company has.

“That’s a great area for business,” Lewis said. “I expect it to be very successful for the company.”

Eddy said the community is thriving despite the economy. Sales tax figures show steady increases for the shopping center and officials with the developer say plans are underway for additional stores.
