MOORE — Most of us have opened our new 2013 calendars and placed them on the wall – in total disbelief that it’s a brand new year.
It seems 2012 flew by in such a whirl. One day we were carving pumpkins and the next we were picking up crumpled Christmas wrapping paper and placing it in the dumpster.
All those crazy hours of shopping, wrapping and holiday events are over, replaced by a little bit of Christmas joy meltdown.
Gone are the lively Christmas carols we heard across the radio stations and the decorations are tucked away until next year.
January’s cold, dreary days loom upon us; a harsh reminder that spring is a long way off. Cloudy, rainy days without the brightness of Christmas lights darken our world. It makes us long for the twinkling displays that warmed our hearts over the past four weeks.
We stand at the threshing floor of a brand new year. Empty calendar pages will soon fill with obligations and the days will quickly pass.
During this past holiday season we were fortunate to spend “Face Time” with family and friends. Through this precious gift of modern technology it was the next best thing to being with our families over 2,000 miles away.
As we enter into the days of 2013, the need to spend “Face Time” with the Our Heavenly Father grows, too.
Imagine how wonderful it would be if we could pull up the face of Jesus and have one-on-one conversations with Him? Wouldn’t that be fantastic?
Alas, we’ll have to wait to have “Face Time” with Jesus, but in the meantime, we can slip away during the first few days of this new year and ask for His Blessings on our family and friends, and all that we do.
With a whisper of gratitude for getting us through another year and hope in our hearts that 2013 will bring joy and happiness for everyone.
This is our prayer for all of you in 2013. May it be filled with new beginnings and great memories of those we love so dearly.
