Fashion show will benefit Food 4 Kids backpack program

MOORE — Tickets are still available for the Fashion 4 Kids show and luncheon Sept. 18, which will benefit the Food 4 Kids backpack program.

Food 4 Kids sends a weekend supply of food home with hungry children in a backpack. The children bring the backpack to school on Monday and it is filled by the Regional Food Bank again on Friday.

There are 368 kids in the City of Moore Food 4 Kids program, said fashion show organizer Scherry Johnson, and they shouldn’t go hungry.

“It is an awesome program and not only provides food for elementary school students, if the student has a younger sibling at home, food will be sent home for them,” Johnson said. “And when they get on the program, grades go up and there are less attendance and behavior problems.”

The luncheon and fashion show will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 301 NE 27th St.

The fashion show will feature models and clothing from local stores and will be emceed by Michael Cooper, (Dean Martin to the Yellow Rose Theatre fans).

With something for everyone, fashions will include adult to children’s fashions by — Fashion Bug, Kohl’s, (Moore and Norman stores), Tuxedo Junction, Peek A Bootique, J.C. Pennys, Maurice’s, Broadway Florist — to the pampered pets of the Fluffy Puppy clientele.

High school cheerleaders in Moore will serve lunch while the junior high cheerleaders are hostesses.

Door prizes will be given away throughout the event.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at Broadway Florist, Showplace Market and Peek A Bootique.

Gold and silver sponsorships are available at $450 and $225.

Gold sponsors include Broadway Florist, Best Buy, Kohls, Showplace Market, Keller Williams The Webber Home Team, Moorestreet Financial Group, Beneficial Automotive, American Tow and Recovery, Resthaven Funeral Home, Ron Ritter Construction, Allied Medical Centers and the Moore Monthly.
