Hobby Lobby will open doors in April

The long-awaited opening date for the new Hobby Lobby Store at the Shops in Moore is tentatively set for April 12.

The 50,000 square-foot facility is Hobby Lobby's 20th store in Oklahoma.

Applications for employment will be taken beginning today at the Laquinta Inn, 2140 Riverwalk Drive.

Moore is an ideal location for a Hobby Lobby store, John Schumacher, assistant vice president of advertising said.

"We are Oklahoma proud and excited to add Moore to the communities we serve," Schumacher said. "Our helpful associates are ready to provide customers with exceptional service, selection and value."

Hobby Lobby will offer crafts, hobbies, picture framing, jewelry making, fashion fabrics, floral, scrapbooking, cards and party, baskets, wearable art, home accents, holiday supplies and much more, Schumacher said.

Hobby Lobby will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The store, like all Hobby Lobby stores, will be closed on Sundays.

The Moore Hobby Lobby will employ 30 to 50 full and part-time employees.

Hobby Lobby was founded in Oklahoma City in 1972 with 300 feet of retail space.

The chain has grown into 436 stores in 34 states and operates from a 4.1 million square-foot office, manufacturing and distribution center.

The Shops in Moore is on the Interstate Service Road south of 19th Street.
