MOORE — The deadline for the Oklahoma Bar Association’s annual Law Day contests has been extended to Jan. 31. All Oklahoma students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grades are encouraged to enter.
Students can win cash prizes up to $500. Entry forms and full contest details are available on the OBA website, www.okbar.org/lawday.
The 2013 Law Day theme is “Realizing the Dream: Equality for All,” which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Contests vary by grade level. Categories include a YouTube contest, in which participants will create a video three minutes long or less incorporating the theme. This contest is open to all ages.
Also included are a coloring contest for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and transitional first grade; drawing contest for first- and second-graders; creative writing contest for fifth through eighth grade; visual arts for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders; and a creative free-for-all open to ninth- through 12th-grade students.
