Eva Inez Tilley

MOORE — Eva Inez Tilley, 91, passed away Aug. 5, 2010. She was born Nov. 29, 1918 in Calvin, OK to Julius and Julia Smallwood. Inez graduated from Washita High School in Caddo Co. in 1938. She was a licensed beautician and worked in several locations before becoming a wife, mother and homemaker. She married Rufus Tilley at Ft. Cobb in Dec. 1943. Her two sons, Jim (1944) and Herb (1946) were born in Carnegie, OK.

She spent several years helping Rufus in farming before becoming a cook at the Stecker and Apache schools. Inez loved the Baptist church and was a member at Graceway Baptist Church at the time of her death. She rarely missed Sunday services and had read the Bible from cover to cover more than once. She loved her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She had hundreds and hundreds of photographs. She traveled to Philadelphia, Connecticut, Colorado, Virginia and Maryland for the weddings of her grandchildren. She was 90 when she traveled to Maryland for the last wedding.

She loved her computers. She had three. She thoroughly enjoyed sending computer generated greeting cards to her family as well as many of her friends. She sent e-mails everyday to many, many different people. She continued to send messages until a few weeks before her death.

She, long ago, mastered the art of crocheting. She made many afghans for her large family. She was especially proud of the 301 newborn caps she made and delivered to the Moore Medical Center.

Inez was one of thirteen children. She is preceded by her parents, Julius Bracken Smallwood and Julia Mae Hatley Smallwood; four brothers, Orel, Harlous, Furman and Doyle; six sisters, Mamie, Thelma, Anita, Ora Marie, Selma, and Wandaleen.

She is survived by two sons, Jim and Mary Lou of Moneta, VA, Herb and Carlene of Graford, TX; one sister, LaVera and Gene Thomas of Tulsa; and one brother, Dale and Wanda Smallwood of Norman; ten grandchildren, Jeff and Dahri Myers, Alana Myers, Ali and Ben Gallo, Lisa and Scott Renfrow, Angie Tilley, Amanda Tilley, Katherine and Mike Sullivan, James Tilley and Lauren Cooper, Luke and Micki Tilley, Matthew and Carrie Tilley; twelve great grandchildren, Connor, Tyler, Cameron, Patrick, Alice, Maria, Susanna, Haley, Charlotte, Sammy, Ellie, and Nathan.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 PM and Sunday from 12-8 PM at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S. Western OKC. Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Graceway Baptist Church, 1100 SW 104th St., OKC, OK. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Apache, OK.
