MOORE — Frances Ann (Phillips) Scowden, 61, of Moore, passed away with family by her side on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, after a long battle with diabetes.
A memorial service was Sept. 7 at Primrose Funeral Service in Norman. Graveside services followed at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman.
Frances was born April 11, 1950, to George and Wanda McFarland Phillips in Stillwater. She graduated from Midwest City High School in 1968. She worked in personnel at Children’s Hospital, where she met her husband of 33 years. She raised two beautiful children and retired from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority in January 2010.
Frances enjoyed traveling, reading, swimming, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Those who knew her had the privilege to experience her compassion, kindness and humor.
She is survived by her husband Mark Scowden of Moore; son Philip and wife Lisa Scowden of Moore; daughter Stacy Scowden Chaney of Yukon; mother Wanda Phillips of Midwest City; grandchildren Addyson and Brycen Scowden of Moore; brothers Mike and wife Charlotte Phillips of Albuquerque, Mark and wife Camille Phillips of Midwest City; uncle James McFarland and wife Juanima of Claremore; aunt Phyllis Swafford of Tulsa; and many nieces and nephews. Frances also is survived by her precious dog Rudy.
She was preceded in death by her father George Phillips and nephew Todd Phillips.
