Mary Ann Sherrard

MOORE — Mary Ann Sherrard passed away June 8, 2010. She was born August 7, 1926 in Slick, Oklahoma to Marion Stuart Hensley and Lilly Cleo (George) Hensley.

She was preceded by 2 sisters, Eva May and Mildred and 3 brothers, Sidney, Gene, and Keaton.

She is survived by 1 brother, Max of Burnet, TX.

She married David Sherrard on May 5, 1944 and they immediately moved to New Orleans, LA while David completed his duties in the US Coast Guard during WWII. After the war they lived briefly in Moore, then moved to the farm in Perry, OK, where they lived until David’s death in 2005. She moved back to Moore in 2006 and lived in the Savannah House of Moore until her death. She traveled daily to the Brand Center where she had lunch with her many friends. She was an active member of the Moore High School Alumni Association, and the Ladies of ¢76 Homemakers Club in Perry.

She is also survived by her son, Larry and his wife Sue of DeLeon, Texas, and Ralph and his wife Charlene of Moore; grandsons, Bill Sherrard and his wife Gina of Haslet, Texas, Brian Sherrard and his wife Tiesha of DeLeon, Texas, and Kevin Sherrard of Moore; Granddaughters, Bobbette Walker and her husband Rich, of Ft. Worth, TX and Kim Dietrich and her husband Duane of Jenks, Oklahoma; 9 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Logan, Lindsi, Jacob, Joshua, Andy, Adam, Sarah, and Brynlee. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Mary Ann made friends where ever she was. She had a wonderful built in smile. She always tried to connect new friends with her old friends and relatives. She enjoyed scrapbooking, working puzzles, and her enormous stamp collections. She started scrapbooking in 1945 when her oldest son was born. All her children and grandchildren have scrapbooks that she made and meticulously decorated. Mary Ann was a member of First Baptist Church of Moore.

Services were held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Moore and 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Perry. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, OK. Family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Ann’s honor to the Brand Senior Center, 501 E. Main St., Moore, OK.

Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
