MOORE —
Westmoore held its annual Jaguar Volleyball Invitational last week to kick off the prep season. Putnam City defeated Norman North in the championship match to win the tourney title.
The third place match pitted Westmoore against Southmoore. After a tough first set, the SaberCats rolled to a straight set victory, 30-28, 25-13, 25-12.
The Cats lost twice during the tournament to Putnam City and Norman North. Aside from the Cats, the jaguars only other defeats came to PCO and NNH.
Moore didn’t fare as well as their two city rivals. They fell to Putnam City, Westmoore and Putnam City North and finished 0-3.
"We started out a little slow but really came together as a team by the end of
tournament," MHS coach Gingerx Black said. "Bailey Aynes and Savannah Witherspoon played very well. I would like for them to continue to work hard on and off the court and continuing supporting each other as well. We are a very young team with lots of promise."
The Jags’ Preley Miller, Southmoore's Amy Serowski and the Lions Savannah Witherspoon made the All-tournament team.
