NEW: Southmoore knocks out Del City
Cats to play NHS for spot in state
Southmoore 61, Del City 50
The SaberCats jumped out to a 28-13 lead and were never in serious trouble to advance through the losers bracket at the Class 6A girls area draw at Harrah.
The Eagles brought it back within 10 points several times, but never even made it a two-possession game with the ball in their hands the rest of the way. Kaylan Haywood led the SaberCats with 16 points. Sidney Cook added 14 as they knocked out the defending champions.
Twice a loser to Norman High, Southmoore earned one more chance at the Tigers with a state tournament invitation on the line. The two teams meet at 3 p.m. Saturday, back at Harrah.
